What would it be like to work in Dubai

What would it be like to work in Dubai?
Coming from the US, what should one expect? Would it be fun and rewarding? Would it look good on a resume? Do jobs there pay well compared to the US?

You should expect a cosmopolitan society. Also when the UAE is an Islamic country, the UAE is very open and welcomes everybody. You will experiment how many nationalities can live peacefully together. Just respect the Muslim culture and the Islamic rules and you are good to go. You also can expect to visit some of the biggest and nicest malls on earth, hot weather, a lot of entertaiment possibilities etc. etc. etc. Please check Dubai out on the net, because to give information in general there are to many links to post. Working in a foreign country is a plus in every resume. More or less depending in what kind of field you are working, but it is always a plus. The pay is always better than in the US because it is taxfree. Assuming that you want to get hired from the US for a at least middle class job you can expect a basic salary (maybe the same like in the US but taxfree), housing allowance (or full paid rent) and transportation. Depending on your position and the company, some also pay furniture allowance (every three years) school fees, a yearly trip back home etc etc. It's all a matter of what you negotiate, but the mentioned things are the commen benefits that western expats can expect. Also healthcare is taking care of. You also can expect to find the same kind of brands of clothes you'll get in the US and buy the same kind of groceries. You do not have to live without hamburger helper, maccaroni cheese and kosher dill pickles, just to mention some things. The most important thing for a Westerner to have a good life in the UAE is to negotiate a good salary package. Take care.

Don't worry, all work related costs have to be paid by the employer only and if hired online, also your Airfare and visa will/have to be paid by the employer. Visa and work related costs depend on your profession and the classification of the company. By having one year experience only, please don't get your hopes up to high to land a job, but try anyway. Good luck.

You don't have to pay for visa or anything, all you have to do is apply and get the job, employer will pay all fees that are necessary.
