Congrats. You don't have to do anything beside to provide your future employer with all required docs. Your employer will apply for your visa on your behalf. Please note that all visa and work related costs need to be paid by the employer and aren't deductable from your salary. You have to enter the UAE on an employment entry permit and in within 30 days your residence visa should be processed if everything is in order. You only have to undergo the medical test. Your employer's PRO will take care of your residence visa and your labor card. Take care.

We are American. My Husband may be going to Dubai to work offshore. Is there a reason to worry

We are American. My Husband may be going to Dubai to work offshore. Is there a reason to worry?
I am afraid of the things going on in the middle east. Realistically speaking My husband in an American who will be going to drill for oil. I am worried for his safety. Does the Taliban and other radical groups get involved in Dubai?

Dubai is where the terrorists get their funding
2 :
back about 20 years ago women were forced to cover their heads. No matter who you are. so that may cause problems... And as an American there is always a danger. Not about your husband, but in general freaking Americans like to bully and act like deserving dogs. Better not go there and take up all that stress.
3 :
I saw some complaints and videos about dubai having 85% migrant workers, them going to work for a salary and them getting there and being treated like slaves. Some have had passports taken, live in shit infested slums etc.. Just do a search on google about slavery in dubai. It has nothing to do with being american. http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/commentators/johann-hari/the-dark-side-of-dubai-1664368.html

do not worthy about it dubai is Beautifull place my husband been working in Iraq 2 years and nothing happen have Faitht and patiente everything going to be ok.

Well Paris Hilton is coming there to find new bff just go with her =p
6 :
One of the most puzzling question in the past decade why al-Qaeda and Bin-Laden have never target the Gulf states as Dubai! Although its used to be Marines bases and have large community of westerners!? In short: Yeah, it's safe now
7 :
Dubai is one of the most beautiful places. it's kind of expensive. actually in Dubai, majority of the population are foreigners from the states, India, and Europe.there aren't as much Arabs as you might think. it is extremely modernized. i don't know if Ur husband is gonna like it because i don't know about the workers there, but you will definitely enjoy it. there are amazing malls, hotels, attractions, and places to go. actually it is one of the biggest tourist attractions for celebrities. most celebs own homes there and visit regularly. you should not worry cause Dubai is good friends with the US. -hope that helps.
8 :
dubai is very safe and they have a very discreet security service at work there there are many americans and european expats there, oil workers and onshore with their families and children so no reason to worry at all. of course no place in the world is 100% safe but i really dont think u have reason to worry. good luck
9 :
Without any offense, I don't know what's wrong with many Americans being worried about working/linving/visiting the UAE. Did you EVER hear about Talibans in the UAE? Terrorists in the UAE? Americans getting attact in the UAE? About any radical groups in the UAE? I do not think so. One ofthe most dangerous things to do in Dubai is to cross the streets unless at a traffic light. The UAE isn't Afghanistan nor Pakistan where the Talibans are active.
10 :
it totally untrue...there are no taliban or radical groups here in the UAE, will he be working with ADNOC? they offer excellent salaries for expats like your husband and they are giving 1 month off for every 3 months if he will be working 3 straight months in the offshore..i am from abu dhabi, and i find it alot more cozier and less stressful than in dubai. but if u r a party person, you would really enjoy dubai more than here. its not that im saying there are no clubs and getaways here, there are alot too...
11 :
Don't worry, it's safe, he will be fine. There are many Americans here, as well as numerous other nationals.
12 :
Get real. !. Dubai is as cosmopolitan as NY. I live in UAE since 12 years and havent had a chance on meeting Bin Laden on the streets. The city is absolutely safe and good. We have a whole lot of other worries here concerned with money and savings.... not Bin laden definetly. BTW.. Americans and British are usually treated like a king by the locals.... even if he was cleaning streets back at home!!!
13 :
GooD GrieF FolkS!!! The lady is worried about here husband, all these stories and such ... Your husband will be fine, i have lived here for a number of years and the following facts preside, - No the Taliban and other radical groups do NOT operate here - Americans are welcome here, as most other nationalities. - He will be well looked after. - If he abides by the law of the land he will have a pleasant stay and return home safe and probably wealthy. - He will get three square meals a day and will have access to all the modern amenities he has access to in America. I hope this alleviates some of your fears. Have a nice day.
14 :
its as safe as any where else. may be more then in america itself. i am livign here for 24 yrs with wife and kids . if u abide by the local laws u need not worry.
15 :
Again , good grief , where do these people get their info from... The first 6 answers , except mariposa's, are total nonsense and these people are obviously paranoid and buy-into stereotypes and such. On the other hand the last 6 answers (before this one) are the answers with roots in reality , not fiction. The biggest problems in Dubai are the traffic jams and summer heat , much like any big city , but given you are going to spend most of your time on an oil rig offshore or some islands, both of these are really not going to affect you as the facilities on the oil rig are air conditioned as well.

Hi. I am based in Kenya, but I want to travel to Dubai to work as a domestic servant or something. Can anyone link me up to someone?

Only certain nationalities are allowed to work as domestic helpers and Kenya doesn't belong to it. Most domestic helpers are getting hired through agencies in their home countries. @Stieve Griffin: The writer of this article never lived in Dubai nor did he work here. He just focused on certain situation without mentioning how they occured. Don't believe anything before you get the whole picture.
2 :
Good luck with your job search. Before you go to Dubai or any other place, you might want to do some research. Dubai has been getting loads of bad press because they treat their workers domestic, construction etc as virtual slaves and are not free to leave if they choose. You can also be imprisoned for bouncing a check, making too much profit it seems or other financial transactions. Take a look at Namibia, Rwanda, Uganda etc for jobs first before considering the Middle East is what I'd advise. Good luck but be wary.

I don't know of any agencies but I do have some advice if you really are interested in moving to Dubai. When you do find employment, make sure that your package includes free accommodation. If they say that they will include "housing allowance" in your package, then make sure that it is enough to pay for a decent living space. A single room flat/studio flat goes for a minimum of Dhs 80,000/year. If you opt to "share" with fellow kababayans. (Usually 6 persons/room on the average). Bed space costs around Dhs 800-1,500/month. Travel allowance for your daily commute is also something to consider. Dubai is a very modern city with lots of traffic and expensive public transport. I wish you luck kababayan :) Oh and if someone tells you to come here with a visit visa and just try your luck in finding a job when you get here, I wouldn't take that advice if I were you. Too many kababayans have made that costly mistake. Try www.monstergulf.com and send them your CV.

Sorry to say that Abdul's visa informations are very confusing. Government charges for a tourist visa (30 days) are AED 100. A tourist visa needs to be obtained through a travel agency, hotel operating in the UAE or if flying with Emirates through the Airline directly. Charges for a tourist visa obtained through travel agencies or hotels vary and the rufundable deposit depends on the nationality of the tourist (some hotels take up to AED 5.000). Charges for a tourist visa obtained through Emirates Airlines are: AED 209 for a 30-day visa plus AED 62 service charge and sales taxes. Residents of some countries may have to pay deposit of AED 1,000. http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/visa/emirates-airline-online-uae-visa-1.633061 If your friend can help/sponsor you depends on certain conditions: minimum salary/ limited number of professions. The minimum salary figure was AED 10,000 per month in 2008 but might vary, or be applied inconsistently. Charges for a short term visit visa (30 days)/long term visa (90 days) are as follows: AED 500/1000 + health insurance + refundable deposit of AED 1.000-2.000 + typing costs.

Dubai work permit

Dubai work permit?
I am planning to work in Dubai and as a qualified accountant there appear to be plenty of opportunities. I would like to go with my girlfriend. Do you know if she would automatically be entitled to work under my work permit or would she have to apply separately? If she has to apply do you know what the entry requirements are or where I could find out?
United Arab Emirates - 2 Answers

You can only come with your spouse, that too If the company that you are going to work for allows you to enter with her. If they do not allow you then you could sponsor her visit visa once you are here and have Residence Visa stamped on your passport. For that you have to have a certain level of income, probably around 7-8k dhs / month. For her work permit, she has to apply separately.
2 :
You can not spnsor a girlfriend. It's also considered illegal to live together being unmarried. If your gf belongs to one of the 34 nationalities who are able to obtain a visit visa (see first link) up on arrival, she can come here and look for a job. For requirements please read the second link. If she is not able to obtain a visit visa up on arrival a visa for her has to be sponsored by a tour operator, travel agency or hotel. Please note: you can only sponsor a wife, family member or friend. Your work permit and the labour contract from Labour Department is only for you. If your gf lands a job, her company will provide the necessary papers for her. Also when Dubai is a very open and westernized country, sharia law still applies. If she ever will become pregnant while unmarried, she'll face trouble. Please be carefull. All the best! http://travelpuppy.com/uae/visa-passport.htm http://www.gulfnews.com/uaessentials/residentsguide/getting_started/10103116.html To sponsor a wife your income has to be DHS 3.000 accomodation provided or DHS 4.500 without housing.

I am applying for a work visa in Dubai as a Housekeeper and have been told there is an upper age limit of 45 but cant find it on the visa website. anyone know? Also there is a medical anyone any ideas what that involves? Thanks

Well, in here the age limit for working begins from 18. The age limit for expats to work in here is 60. But maybe for housekeepers there might be a lesser age limit of which i am nt sure. You said that you are applying for a job as a housekeeper. From this i assume that you are actually applying a job for a housemaid. See, as much as I know, the maids are not paid enough and they have to work way hard. It depends from home to home, like how the ppl livin in that home are, and how much they are and so on..... You must do some research ovr the conditions of maids in here.. And abt the medical tests, the candidate is checked for all the types of hepititis, aids, toilet stool test. There may b some others as well THOSE are the main ones....
2 :
may be that is the rule of the company who was processing your hiring, keep trying the max age limit is 60 or some can even get visa after 60 in some cercumtances--------------cheers

Having a MoH License, your fiancee can work all over the UAE. DoH License needed for people without MoH License who want to work in Dubai only. Your fiancee can apply at any hospital in any Emirate.
2 :
Yes, there are hospitals that do not require the MOH or DOH license. The hospitals in Dubai Healthcare City (not sure if all!) do not require the DOH license since they have their own requirements/licensing procedures within the DHCC. Your fiancée can actually work anywhere in the UAE. I know that you need to have a min. 2 years experience to apply for MOH/DOH plus the attested proofs i.e. nursing and training certificates; along with other docs. You may check directly with Dubai Health Authority-- http://www.dohms.gov.ae/default Hope this helps! Good luck!

Then money for all the construction, the credit, is all disappearing as values of homes are falling. I thing you need to do some research on the current conditions in Dubai since having one of the biggest booms they might have one of the bigger tumbles for a while.

what should i do to work in dubai?
My case is like this, Im planning to go dubai after my contract here in qatar. But my problem how it can be. My plan is, from here in qatar i will fly to dubai and dubai to philippines. From here in qatar i have a two way ticket coz i able to complete my 2 yrs contract, but im not planning to go back here in qatar. I will just stay there in dubai for maximum of 1 month or less, if i got a job there in dubai do still need to go back in the philippines? i have a girlfriend there in dubai where i can stay also.

Travel to Dubai at the end of your contract. Stay with your girlfriend, enjoy her company while you also look for a job. How about that.
2 :
when is ur contract finishing/ or lets say when r u planning to visit dubai? start looking for a job atleast 2 months b4 arriving here. inform the employer that u'll b available by this date and schedule ur program accordingly. once u reach here u can fax / email ur resignation to the company in qatar. and could continue here. other option is tht when u reach here than strt llooking for the job and visit offices/companies by urself, which i don't recommend this if u r coming just 4 a month coz then it might b dfclt to get the job of ur own choice. and once u accepted the offer and strt working on the employer's visa it not tht easy to change the job here. to stay with ur gf........confirm with her is it possible to stay with her coz here mostly the persons are staying in sharing, sometimes just a bed space coz of very high rents and less salry thus resulting in less saving. so check if u could stay with her or else wht's the other option u r left with.
3 :
First of all, you should be aware that you need a visa to get into Dubai. If you come on visit visa, you need to have a return or forward journey ticket. Finding a good job in Dubai is not as easy as it sounds. If you have earned your right for the two-way ticket from your company, if you can, take encashment instead so you can use your ticket whichever sector you want to, say Dubai as you have planned. If you do get a job in Dubai, I would say it would be better if you ask your work sponsor to convert your visit visa to working visa. Either they pay for the visa change charges plus the charges because you are in the country OR they would ask you to do a visa change which will involve traveling out of Dubai to any GCC country and coming back on the same flight to enter on a working visa. If you plan to travel to Philippines instead of GCC, then to get out of Pinas smoothly you would have to register as an OFW in POEA if not yet registered -- like if you went to Qatar on visit visa instead of employment visa. If you are already registered as an OFW, then you would have to renew your OWWA membership because it is only valid for 2 years. You will have to pay a little less more than 2000php. Either way, if I were you, exit cleanly from Qatar by resigning so your current employer wouldn’t file an absconding case for you and you will be banned from entering Qatar. Who knows, one day you might need to go back to Qatar for something. Also, try applying online for jobs in Dubai. It is always better if the company sponsors for your entry visa to UAE. You can email me if you need further details, maybe I can help you out. Good luck!

The US based company you may be employed with is sponsored by any UAE organisation (company, government etc). You will be sponsored by this company or the original sponsor. The PRO of the company has to apply for an employment visa on your behalf. He will let you know what documents are required. Employment visa: "Employment Visa or Permit is issued by the Immigration Department to a foreign national who wishes to work for a company in the UAE upon the approval of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. It allows the holder to enter the UAE once for a period of 30 days and is valid for two months from the date of issue. When the employee has entered the country on the basis of the employment visa, the sponsoring company will arrange to complete the formalities of stamping his residence." All labor and visa related costs have to be paid by the sponsoring company and are not deductable from the salary. Good luck!

can a expat on a student visa can work in dubai especially females?

United Arab Emirates - 3 Answers

There are many expat students who work part-time in the UAE, and many part-time jobs advertised which are likely to suit students. But keep the following in mind... There was talk of allowing students in the UAE to be allowed to work part-time, but so far (as of May 2010) it appears that no official permission has been granted, except for Emirati students. Students on a family resident visa (sponsored by father, mother, husband, or wife) might be allowed to seek part-time employment. For example, the UOWD website says "Current labour laws of the UAE do not permit students on student visas from undertaking paid employment in any capacity" (last checked May 2010). However, UOWD also says students might be able to work if "student is working directly for the University of Wollongong in Dubai" or "student is working in a work placement directly linked to his / her studies". Similar rules probably apply at other universities and colleges in the UAE. Students at universities and colleges in the UAE might be able to find internships if their institute has made arrangements with a company or organisation. Internships are usually unpaid jobs though, and students would normally be expected to obtain permission from the institute where they are studying. Any foreign expat who is employed in the UAE needs to obtain a labour card (employment / work permit) from the UAE Ministry of Labour. Usually the employer arranges this for the employee. Emirati national students can work part time (or full-time) since Emirati citizens do not need residence visas or labour permits in the UAE. GCC national students might also be allowed to find employment in the UAE for the same reason. Minimum employment age in the UAE is 18 years of age (maybe 15 years for some jobs, unknown which ones.

not officially but can work for promotions.
3 :
ok , this person is not EMIRATI so please don't provide useless info. To put it simple. officially you CANNOT work on student visa. Some universities allow you to work ON CAMPUS but very limited and petty pay. Employers do hire students for promotions, etc. But please bear in mind it is risky, being caught will result in deportation to your home country.

I am curious. Will you tell what you are being paid and your job duties please? Everyone thinks the wages are incredible when and others say the wages are low and the hours are very long. I know a few people who helped build a casino in Macao and they couldn't wait to get back to the states but the pay was better if you were an American representing the American interest in the project. Otherwise, you were paid slave wages.

10 points, can you work in Dubai and be successful ?
if you can speak english only say you can speak Persian, will that help?

english is the common language in dxb but a second language doesn't help except arabic it is all about how flexible u r
2 :
yes, i can speak english fluntly.
3 :
Maybe it will be useful if you get a job in the Iranian Hospital because lots of Iranians living in Dubai go there. You will learn Arabic gradually. This is not a private Hospital , its part of the Iranian consulate complex so they are operating it (Iran's govt). But they charge the same as other private hospitals, its like business now. Or you could work in one of the call centers for companies like Etisalat or HP answering customers etc.
4 :
knowing other languages except English can be very useful in Dubai . And i think that's very good point for being successful in your job in this city . .Arabic.Persian.Urdu.... all of them are useful. each of them in one kind of jobs
5 :
Persian will help only if you are working in Iranian CO
6 :
speaking english is great and is one of the major languages needed. but i think persian would help a lot since SO MANY persians live in Dubai. seriously. i went there for my holiday and i felt like i was in tehran since there were so many persian speakers :) so good luck.
7 :
I think it can help you as there are a good percentage of business community is Iranian who are involved in Middle & Lower class business. If its only language which you know will not help. U have to have some technical abilities as well.

Work in Dubai - what interview questions can one expect

Work in Dubai - what interview questions can one expect?
I have a friend who is going for an job interview for posts in Saudi-Arabia. What type of questions would he most likely have to face? He's a South African, and he has 20 years of teaching experience, including 7 as vice principal of different schools. PLEASE, I would really appreciate informative answers - I'm not in the mood for nonsense answers. Thanks for your help. I'm grateful! Thanks so far for the info. He's applying for teaching positions.

I have heard that it is good to be Moslem which makes a lot of sense. What I was supprised to learn from a couple of guys that have taught in Saudi is that you are better thought of if you say you are at least Jewish or Christian rather than Bhuddist, Hindi, or somesuch. I guess the idea is that if you are Christian or a Jew, at least you have the concept of One God or even that you worship the same God. From what I've heard they are hard up for teachers/administrators in all the Middle East right now...also not supprising. I would guess he will a shoe-in with that much experience if he is going for a school admin job or teaching. You might want to say what kind of gig he is looking to get...what field; engineering, teaching basket weaving, principal of a grade school, unversity teacher of English, ???

Medical test clarification dubai work/resident visa

Medical test clarification dubai work/resident visa
folks i am planning to move to dubai for work. it is understood that x-ray of the chest for TB is mandatory. i had pulmonary TB in the year 1998 for which i was under medication and it is cured after 8 months treatment..since then for the last 10 years i had no problems relating to it . since my lungs still have those minor scars of the TB,will it be a problem for a Visa?do they consider old historical cases of TB for rejections of the visa or rejections are only to active cases...please advice on this and do the needful

Hello Diego, I have lived and worked in Dubai for the last 11 years before moving on to settle in Canada, so I can confidently answer your question correctly. 1. X-Ray of the chest for TB is NOT mandatory. 2. Blood Testing for AIDS/HIV IS mandatory. It all depends on the doctor who sees you. It works like this, you go to a doctor at the Test Center who looks at your general appearance. Now on your test papers will already be written what job you have been selected/brought into the country for. If it is a low-paying labour job in construction or restaurant etc., then there is a good chance of the Doctor asking you to do a TB test. If you have a good blue-collar job, go well dressed (Tie-Shirt-Pant) and chances are that you only get to do the compulsary Blood test. I had done almost 4 Medical tests (every time you renew/get a new residence permit) and never was asked to do a TB test. Don't worry, if worse comes to worse, they are very considerate and you can explain that it was a long time ago and I feel it should not show up on the X-ray. All the best to you and have a wonderful stay in Dubai.

Im not going to be able to give you a good answer, but just a note-dont say I speak "a" good english. Just say "I speak English well". English doesn't need an article before it like "a" or "the". Also the word "good" should be used to describe a noun-like "a good job" or "a good car"" To describe a verb use "well" such as "she sews well". Good luck

yup! you need to unlock it!
2 :
DON'T BUY IT!!!!!!!! Apple iPhone's are too proprietary, locked down to what Steve Jobs wants, not what you; as the consumer wants. I recommend you get a BlackBerry, Android, or Symbian device. Heck even an old version of Windows Mobile (get 6.1 or 6.5, because 7 sucks).
3 :
If the phone is running 4.1, it can't be unlocked. Why aren't you looking at factory unlocked iPhones from Canada and Europe. They aren't that much more expensive than a full price US iPhone.
4 :
yes jailbreak it and it will work anywhare. here is a smart jailbreaking tool that should help you. http://www.monitoring-softwares.com/how-to-unlock-iphone.html
5 :
Yes. They will, it's a global phone. Just make sure you get an unlocked one and not an AT&T one.

How is like to work in Dubai

Work depends on your qualification and experience. The professions in demand are Accountancy, Sales, HR and Contruction engg. Good quality IT jobs are not available here. If you are single, then you can stay on a shared appartment. There can be two to twenty people in a room depending on your choice. A single room costs anywhere between AED 3000 to 4000 per month and so it is generally shared by two to ten people. Food expenses can be around AED 550 per month. If you want to live a simple and decent life ( no night clubs, no alchohol, no girl friends etc ) then the expenses can be around 1700 to 2000 per person including shared accomodation rent, water & elec bill, food, laundry etc. A driving license will cost you about AED 5000 and three to four months to get it after your work visa. Car will cost you another 1000 dirhams including instalments, parking fees and petrol. Fines are very high. Nightlife is just like any other cosmo. Dance bars, clubs, one night stands etc are there of all natures.
2 :
not too bad to live in dubai, you dont need much money to get by if ur a veggie, you set ur stall, you can live for 10,000 AED per month and spend your evenings in the traffic. You are welcome to it

As for the people, you find people from all nationalities, you only ave a social life at night because it is a very busy city in the morning and afternoon... you will notice from the TRAFFIC JAM... 2 or 3 hours in one street. i suggest you com here for a visit and have a look around Dubai and then decide if you want to stay hre or not.

1 trillion dubai.. maybe a little more as i"m not exactly sure, does that rhyme or what?
2 :
To pay GBP 500 you have to deduct around AED 3.000 from your salary going by the current rate. A year ago it would have been AED 600 more. Anyway, you don't mention if accommodation, transportaion, etc. is provided. You don't need to be a big spender, Dubai is expensive period. Please visit the link giving below to get an idea: http://www.dubaifaqs.com/cost-of-living-in-dubai.php Costs for hairdresser, going out, dining out etc. you can compare with prices in Ldn when visiting places where Westerners go. After rent I assume you'll need at least AED 15.000 to make your monthly payments and enjoy life in Dubai. edit: it's not easy to give you an advice without knowing any details. What's your basic salary? Is housing allowance provided or paid accommodation? Can not estimate transportation costs without knowing the distance between your home and working place. Your question is also hard to answer without knowing anything about your life style. In general working in Dubai is worth for a Westerner, if you make a third more than in UK after tax. In case you have to look for a place on your own, please visit: http://www.gnads4u.com/search.html?t=properties&pub=D
3 :
H has given you a good informative reply, as usual. I just have one point to add: Come to dubai ONLY if they are giving you an apartment in a good location, like Marina, bcos that alone will be through the roof. Failing that they should give you an adequate rent allowance so that you can look for something yourself. rents in places like springs, palmyra and marina can be upwards of 118,000 dirhams annually. Dubai is v expensive and its NOt a good idea for a girl on her own to come and live in some ghetto in sharjah or something, which single men often do to save money. Dubai is going thru a crippling recession do check before you come here esp if you are in a vulnerable sector like property or construction.
4 :
The best advice I could offer is do plenty of research into the cost of rental accommodation for when you arrive in Dubai. The hotel rates and rental prices really hit me when I arrived, so be ready to pay top buck. For a 2 bedroom apartment in International City, I paid around 1900 pounds a month! It's not cheap so maybe you could see if your employer in Dubai would provide accommodation (or at least for when you arrive) Good luck with your move.
5 :
pounds 500 = dhs 3000 accomodation studio= dhs 50000 in cheap locality to dhs 120000 in upscale area. food =dhs 2000 to 4000 traveling = dhs 2000 furniture one time = dhs 5000 for studio personal expense = 2000 to 4000 depending on ur habits.

Hi! I was selected to work in Dubai as an Engineer. My agency told me that I already have a visa?
But my employment did not push through due to global crisis which affects the company that I applied for. Therefore all my processed documents are already been expired. But due to global finanacial crisis my employment did'nt push through. Therefore all my processed documents are already expired including my visa. I double checked the documents that my agency gave me I found out that it is an entry permit which expires for 2 months or 60days from the date of issuance. What it is the difference between an entry permit and a visa? Thus my agency was right on telling me that the entry that they gave to me was a visa?or it was an initial processed to be taken that lead to getting my visa as soon as I arrived at the Dubai Airport?

entry permit is a document which empowers your entry into the country. after entry, the visa has to be affixed on passport within a validity period of the entry permit, after fulfilling certain formalities such as medical check up. this is only a vague idea. not a professional advice
2 :
To enter the UAE on an employment visa entitles you to take employment in the UAE. Regarding the new visa rules, nobody is allowed to take employment being on a visit or tourist visa (many exemptions exist). Earlier it was possible to convert a visit visa into a residence visa by paying a fee for getting the right entry permit. This should not be possible no more, but..............it depends on your Nationality and job/profession/position. Anyway, if your current employment visa expired due to the current crisis, I hope it will be worked out. To answer your question: An employment visa is your entry permit to take employment in the UAE. After entering and working, your company will apply for your residence visa on your behalf.

Youre right, it is hot, very hot all year round in Dubai. But everywhere has air conditioning. So apart from times when you go out side, when you can take off your jacket. A suit would be comfortable and the expected norm. Perhaps a skirt suit would leave you more comfortable also.
2 :
it wont be too hot inside, indeed i remember being freezing in the air conditioning whilst it was 40 degrees plus outside. yes u can get clothes copied very cheaply the area where tailors are is karama, u go to the material shops,, choose yr material and they will copy anything u have already. they will also design something for u but ur better having something copied. its cheap and quick.
3 :
Outide hot, inside environment very cold. Suits or any attire can be had from lot of shops, no problem.
4 :
A suit is not necessary for office wear in Dubai, unless you are a high-level manager. "Smart casual" is fine for the office, which means nice pant suits, pants with blouse and blazer, and casual dresses. I have worked in Doha, which is more conservative than Dubai, and am presently working in a corporate environment in Abu Dhabi. "Smart casual" is the prescribed dress in every office I have worked here in the MIddle East. As you will see when you get here, a typical business suit will mean you are over-dressed in your office.
