No I've drunk beer in public in Dubai, Women dont have to wear the veil, even wearing a bikini is fine... but at the same time, they are a lot stricter on a lot of things than the west is. Dont have sex on the beach...

you must be a Muslim, if so take a Umra visa and in the mean time find job there by walk in interview.

Not Muslim? Not a chance. If you are Muslim, you will have to have a job lined up with a company and have them sponsor you. You will have to live in a closed housing commune where expats live.

I heard through a person working in Dubai that the properties are sold on 99 years lease basis and Visa is given to the purchasers. Anyway you can get confirmation by contacting the selling agents of the properties in free zone.
